OK, so we think online dating is a FAR better deal than speed dating; not only in terms of money (the sheer volume of people you meet for your money far exceeds the number you will meet at a speed dating event costing the same, or more than one month of online dating) but in terms of choice. Yes, you get to meet a bunch of people face to face, but from what we hear, the chances of sitting across the table from the future love of your life are slim!
If looks are super important to you, we accept the argument that you can rule out people very quickly once you see them face to face, but we also propose that people 'grow on you', and that once you find out how great they are, how you 'see' them physically CAN CHANGE, and often does. SO we think emailing through an online dating site is a great way to get to know someone, much more intimately than you can do in 2 minutes at a speed dating event. From there, who knows what might happen.
Speed dating can be super fun if you are a confident, outgoing person who talks easily and makes a good first impression. If you're not those things, they can be hell on a seat. Go back a page on this site!
And finally, speed dating, to us, feels like a show, a laugh, a buzz, a meet market and can really get your adrenaline running as you exert your flirting powers to the max. But as a starting place for a long term relationship, we think that online dating is leaps and bounds ahead, and gives you most if not all of these things in a much more productive package.
